What you’ll need
- Three songs you both enjoy
- A clear, non-slip space
Before you start
- Move furniture and trip hazards out of the way and choose movement that suits both partners’ mobility and health.
You do not need to know how to dance. Choose three songs, clear a little space, and decide that the goal is to enjoy the music rather than perform.
Try this three-song plan
- Each person chooses one song they already love.
- Choose the third song together—perhaps one connected to a shared memory.
- Put phones away, unless one is playing the music.
- Sway, move, or simply hold each other in whatever way feels comfortable.
- After the last song, each share one memory or feeling the music brought back.
If dancing is not comfortable for either partner, sit together and listen instead. The idea still works when the activity respects both people’s preferences and physical limits.
